DuPont Shoot Powders, Llewellin English Setter Champion Hunting Dogs. Outstanding mounted collection, the main portion depicts the 13 different unused postcards with multicolored designs based on paintings by Edmund Henry Osthaus, these depict the National Bird Dog Champions of 1896 and 1898-1910 -- all but one an English Setter, nine of these cards are accompanied by covers depicting the same design, all but one are printed on back and bearing Washington-Franklin stamps, some with enclosures (the four missing designs are not known on cover), also two additional covers for DuPont Powders, one with a scene of a boy learning to shoot and another with a brace of English SettersEXTREMELY FINE. Apr. 30 12-M 1904 World's Fair St. Louis" First Day machine cancel on cover to local address, some slight wearVERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE FIRST DAY COVER OF THE ONE-CENT LOUISIANA PURCHASE ISSUE. ONE OF ONLY THREE FIRST DAYS ON AN ACTUAL COVER.
Of the approximately ten known First Days, eight are on cards and only three are on covers. The other covers do not have an exposition cancel -- one has a pair used from New York, the other was offered in our Dr. Martin sale (Sale 894, lot 329). Only one card has an exposition cancel.
With 1981 P.F. certificate. Illustrated in First Days, Oct. 15, 2000, p. 524. Scott value $7,500.00 with no distinction between cover, card or exposition cancel.

1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, St. Louis Mo., Postal History Mounted Collection. Huge collection mounted one or two covers to a page in eight thick binders, more than 420 covers, includes both the Exposition stamps Nos. 323-327 used from the Fair and various other cities as well as many other stamp issues on Fair-related or souvenir envelopes (some envelopes unused and not counted in our total), range of stamp combinations including two Nos. 323-327 complete set covers, one to Vienna, Austria, the other to the Netherlands, lots of other stamp combinations, most covers are illustrated with advertising, corner cards, territorial, two whole albums of foreign destinations with Nos. 323-327 and many foreign stamped covers to the Exposition, also pages with Fair promotion labels, 60+ company promotion labels, etc., condition ranges from sound to some with stamp problems, overall an exceptional and colorful collection compiled by Melvin Getlan over many years, see our website PDF for a complete scan

Massive accumulation of many hundreds of covers unsorted in one large box, Louisiana Purchase Exposition related either by use of Nos. 323-327 or Fair-related uses of other stamps and stationery, includes at least fourteen full set Nos. 323-327 covers including several to foreign destinations and one with multiple 10c stamps, huge range of illustrated designs, advertising, foreign destinations, some with fair labels, etc., these are mostly the covers that did not make it into the mounted collection offered in lot 214 but there are a great many attractive and worthwhile covers in this valuable hoard, viewing recommended

Jul. 22 5:30PM 1909" exposition cancel on official picture postcard for Alaska-Yukon Exposition to Stuarts Draft Va., Very Fine, the Type Ia is unlisted for Scott 343, it is only listed on the Alaska-Yukon stamp (Scott 371), the Belasco book notes several machines were in Seattle at exposition locations, the book notes these exposition station cancels are very rare, with 2016 P.F. certificate
