HAWAII, 1863, 2c Dark Blue, Bluish (17 var). Plate 5-B, Type IV (Westerberg Position 4), broken toe of "2" variety, full even margins, "Honolulu Hawaiian-Islands" circular datestamp cancel, faint toning and 7mm tear at top (may be caused by rim of postmark)VERY FINE AND CHOICE APPEARING USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1863 2-CENT DARK BLUE ON BLUISH PAPER WITH THE BROKEN NUMERAL PLATE VARIETY.
The broken "2" variety is unlisted in Scott. Scott Retail for normal stamp without premium for the variety

AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1864 2-CENT FIFTH-SETTING NUMERAL ISSUE ON WHITE WOVE PAPER ON PIECE WITH A COMPLETE STRIKE OF THE LAHAINA DATESTAMP. ONLY TWO COMPLETE COVERS ARE RECORDED.
2c Numeral stamps from the Fifth Setting on white wove paper are much scarcer in used condition than unused. By August 1864, when this stamp was used, the National Bank Note Co. 2c Kamehameha IV stamps (Scott 31) were circulating in Hawaii (issued June 1864 and known used as early as August 1864).

HAWAII, 1864, 2c Black (20). Plate 5-C, Type V (Westerberg Position 5), unused (no gum), missing most of "D" of "ISLAND", margins to barely touched at top, neat 9-bar square grid cancel, Fine and rare, an interesting variety that very nearly qualifies as the "ISLANI" variety, Scott Retail as normal
