Sale 998, Lot 63, Plate One Early Type IIIa Gem Examples1c Blue, Ty. II-IIIa (7-8A). Positions 95-96R1E, horizontal pair, left stamp Type II (Relief B), right stamp Type IIIa (Relief A) with wide break at top, large to huge margins including part of adjoining stamp at left, pretty "Robin's Egg" Blue shade nicely complemented by blue circular datestamps

EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE COMBINATION PAIR OF THE 1851 ONE-CENT IMPERFORATE TYPES II AND IIIA. THIS PAIR SHOWS THE B-A RELIEF COMBINATION FOUND ONLY IN THE BOTTOM ROW OF THE RIGHT PANE OF PLATE ONE EARLY.

This pair is an extremely rare and desirable example of the B-A Relief combination from the bottom row of Plate 1E Right, resulting from the misplaced Relief A entries in Positions 96-100R1E (see Neinken book, p. 72 and footnote 8, for commentary on the rarity of 96R1E).

With 2009 P.S.E. certificate.
