Position 58R1L, recut once at top and bottom, showing significant plate cracks at bottom, deep rich color and proof-like impression, neat circular datestamps and also some red ink at top, wide and balanced marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A BEAUTIFUL USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 ONE-CENT PERFORATED TYPE IV. SCARCE WITH SUCH CHOICE CENTERING.
This stamp is especially desirable because it shows the surface cracks in the printing plate -- these are not evident in the early state of the plate.
