Sale 998, Lot 236, Plate One Late On Cover1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Position 64L1L, recut once at top and bottom, large margins on bright paper, tied by partly clear strike of red "New-York Paid 1 Ct. Oct. 17" integral drop-rate circular datestamp on folded cover to addressee on Wall Street, undoubtedly from the same source as lot 235, file fold clear of the stamp, minor backflap tear

VERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 ONE-CENT IMPERFORATE TIED ON COVER BY THE NEW YORK INTEGRAL DROP-RATE DATESTAMP.

The postmark, date and handwriting are identical to the cover offered in lot 235. This was probably part of a group of circulars bootlegged from England and dropped at the New York Post Office.
