Jul. 11" circular datestamp on triple-rate legal-size cover to Lawrenceville Ga., the cover has skillfully repaired tears at right and upper left, strip with couple minor perf flaws

VERY FINE. THE UNIQUE ON-COVER USAGE OF THE 3-CENT 1857 ISSUE IMPERFORATE HORIZONTALLY. A MAGNIFICENT COVER AND ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WAGSHAL 3-CENT COLLECTION.

A review of the Philatelic Foundation records and Power Search produced only two other examples of this rarity: a vertical pair and single on piece, also postmarked at Griffin Ga. (ex Twigg-Smith and Hulme); and a top-margin pair faintly cancelled (ex Hulme). This is the only known example on cover and is also the largest known multiple.
