Sale 996, Lot 3110, Shades3c Experimental Orange Brown, Ty. II (11A var). Four covers, first three vivid Plate 1L Orange Browns, two used from New York in October 1851 and February 1852, large to clear margins and Very Fine, one signed by Dr. Amonette, third used from Lancaster Pa. in May 1852, with blue grid and circular datestamp on folded bank notice, stamp with single line recut in upper left triangle, some paper splitting along folds, otherwise Very Fine, fourth cover used from New York in November 1851, Mr. Wagshal called it Orange Brown, but we think the color is not quite to the depth of the others, still Very Fine, Scott Retail for only the first three Experimental Orange Brown covers
