VERY FINE. A RARE AND DESIRABLE USE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE CANCELLED SOLELY BY A GREEN CIRCULAR DATESTAMP.

The Alexander census records only three covers from Ithaca with a green cancel. This is the earliest and it is also the only one cancelled by the circular datestamp -- the other two are cancelled by green grids.
