Tied by Honolulu 7-bar open grid, used with U.S. 10c Yellow Green (68), tied by circular cork cancel, both stamps tied by red "Honolulu U.S. Postage Paid Jul. 22" (1868) datestamp on cover to Richmond Ind., Hughes correspondence, neat strike of red oval "Hawaiian Steam Service" handstamp, "San Francisco Cal. Aug. 6" circular datestampVERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE MIXED-FRANKING COVER WITH BOTH STAMPS TIED BY THE HONOLULU POSTMARK AND WITH THE HAWAIIAN STEAM SERVICE MARKING.
This cover was carried on a contract sailing of the Montana, departing Honolulu on July 22, 1868, and arriving in San Francisco on August 5.
