Sale 976, Lot 2661, The Martin Richardson Gold Medal Collection of U.S. Post Office Seals (1872-1969 Post Office Seals on Cover)1888-1898, Official Seals (OX5-OX7, OX10). 13 covers on exhibit pages, wide variety of frankings both from and to the U.S., range of typographed seal usages including repair of damage, reseal of covers received opened and reseal of covers opened by wrong addressee, highlights include cover from Dresden, Germany with nine thin paper seals (OX10), two-color franking registered cover from Little Britain, Ontario with "Request Examination on Delivery" pink label, registered cover from Springrock Mich. with two 4c Columbians and three 2c 1890 Issue, two-color franking from Bavaria to New York with circular "Received in Bad Order V" handstamp, many others, overall a wonderful representation of seal usage during this period hand picked by the owner for his gold medal exhibit
