Post Office Registry Seal (OXF1). Full pane of 15 from the lower half of the sheet of 30, original gum, several seals Mint N.H., few small h.r. sensibly reinforcing perf separations, left selvage mostly detached, couple toning spots almost entirely confined to selvageVERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS THE UNIQUE COMPLETE BOTTOM PANE OF 15 OF THE 1872 POST OFFICE REGISTRY SEAL ISSUE. ONE OF THE GREAT RARITIES OF POST OFFICE SEAL COLLECTING.
According to Kotanchik (p.37), the 1872 Registry Seals were printed in at least three formats. The regularly-issued seals were printed in sheets of 30 and divided between the 5th and 6th rows. There are six top panes of 15 record and only this single bottom pane of 15.
