Two of the same halves positioned on cover to appear as a single stamp, tied by blue oval grid, "St. John New Brunswick Au. 11, 1858" circular datestamp on cover to Boston Mass., blue "Chatham N.B. AU ?, 1858" backstamp, red "Paid 10" in circle handstamp, vertical file fold and some slight edgewearVERY FINE. AN ATTRACTIVE AND RARE COVER BEARING TWO BISECTED HALVES OF THE 1851 6-PENCE ISSUE. ONLY TWO SUCH USAGES ARE KNOWN AND THIS IS BY FAR THE FINER OF THE TWO.
