3c Dull Red, Ty. III (26). Cancelled by grid and tied by rim of circular datestamp, second partial strike of "Harrisburgh Pa. Oct. 16, 1861" double-circle datestamp on red and blue "Long May it Wave" Flag and Ribbon Patriotic to Mountville Pa., also with well-struck "Old Stamps Not Recognized" small-size straightline handstamp and "Due 3" in oval, small edge nicks at top and bottom restored, minor soilingFINE APPEARANCE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE PATRIOTIC COVER WITH THE SMALL "OLD STAMPS NOT RECOGNIZED" HANDSTAMP. VERY FEW OF THIS TYPE ARE KNOWN.
It has been reported that only three examples of this type of "Old Stamps Not Recognized" handstamp are known, and that this is the only example on a patriotic.
