FINE. A RARE SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT ST. LOUIS POSTMASTER'S PROVISIONAL ON GRAY LILAC PAPER.

As noted in the description of lot 14, the 5c on Gray Lilac paper only comes from Plate 2, which contained three 10c, two 20c and only one 5c subject. True examples of 11X4 must be on the correct Gray Lilac paper and not have the retouched "5" as found on Plate 3.
