30c Orange (38). Original gum, vibrant color which is unusually fresh and free of oxidation, choice centering for this difficult issue with wide and balanced margins, this stamp from an "old-time" source has some slight gum disturbance from previous "dry" hinge removal and a pencil number beneath one central hinge remnantEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT 1860 ISSUE. QUITE POSSIBLY ONE OF THE FINEST IN EXISTENCE.
Due to the narrow layout of the plate this is one of the most difficult issues to obtain in sound, centered original-gum condition.
