1c Blue, Ty. III-IIIa (21-22). Block of four from Plate 4, top stamps Ty. III (Relief B), bottom stamps Ty. IIIa (Relief C), original gum, lightly hinged for a classic multiple such as this, intact perfs at left, deep rich color on bright paper, tiny sealed tear at right of bottom Ty. IIIa stampFINE-VERY FINE. A RARE 1857 PERFORATED ONE-CENT ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR COMBINING TYPES III AND IIIA.
These stamps plate to the B/C Reliefs, which can only occur in rows 11-20 and 21-30 on Plate 4.
Ex Klein (Part 4) where incorrectly described as a block of No. 22. With 1989 P.F. certificate specifically stating that the top stamps are Type III.
