5c Red Brown (28). Vertical strip of three, perfs scissors-separated leaving intact perfs on three sides and trimmed at bottom, tied by clear strikes of "New Orleans La. Oct. 2, 1857" circular datestamps on blue folded letter to Paris, France, red "New York Paid 6 Oct. 10" credit datestamp, receiving backstamp, stamps affected by light horizontal cover bend, appears Fine, scarce usage, from the same correspondence as the vertical strip of three of No. 12 offered in lot 35, this October 1857 usage pre-dates the Red Brown printing (the shade is the 1856 No. 12 shade), with 1982 Diena certificate
