HAWAII, 1896, 5c Black Brown (O2). Tied by "Honolulu, H.I. Jun. 28, 4PM 1898" duplex datestamp on cover to Denver Col., with corner card of "First Reg't Colorado Inft. U.S. Volunteers" and sent by a Col. Hale aboard the steamship China in Honolulu Harbor, manuscript "Please forward collect. Have no Hawaiian Stamps," San Francisco transit and Denver receiving backstamps, nicked at top from opening, still Very Fine, the Hawaiian government allowed soldiers en-route to the Philippines to send letters home with the postage paid by Official stamps
