Large to huge margins including left sheet margin, brilliant color, cancelled by blue grid with matching "Ashboro N.C. Jul. 18" circular datestamp on dark oatmeal cover to Brig. Gen. J. Johnston Pettigrew, Richmond, Extremely Fine, Pettigrew was one of the three division commanders in the disastrous July 3, 1863 "Pickett's Charge" at Gettysburg, he was wounded during the assault and then wounded again during the Confederate retreat, dying on July 17, 1863, this cover never reached him as it was datestamped the day after he died
