Sale 1291, Lot 678, Confederate General Issues, cont. (6-13)10c Blue, Die A, B (11-12). Two covers, both with singles tied by Charleston S.C. circular datestamps and addressed to Gustavus A. Myers in Richmond Va., both endorsed at bottom "Pr Walker", fresh and Very Fine, these were long thought to be incoming blockade-run covers from Bermuda, signed by Major Norman S. Walker, however old research in the Confederate Philatelist rediscovered by Patricia Kaufmann clearly indicates that these were signed by Henry Pickney Walker, the Acting British Consul in Charleston S.C. from 1861-63, they are therefore not blockade-run covers but are still unusual examples of British consulate mail within the Confederacy
