Sale 1291, Lot 632, Confederate General Issues (1-5)5c Green, Stone 1-2 (1). Two, ample to large margins, tied by blue "Norfolk Va. Apr. 7, 1862" double-circle datestamp on buff cover to Centre Ala. with red and blue 10-Star Confederate Flag and Verse Patriotic design (F10-16, Verse 46), "Sold only by Vickery & Company, Norfolk" imprint, reduced at right and tiny corner repair at top right (not affecting stamp), left stamp with faint margin crease at top, Very Fine, a colorful example of this 10-Star Flag Patriotic used with the 5c Green lithograph, this is also a scarce Confederate use from Norfolk, which was permanently occupied by Union forces one month after this cover was mailed, we have encountered only a few examples of this design, each used from Norfolk with General Issue stamps, and most are faulty to a far greater degree than the cover offered here, this is also the latest use of this design that we have offered, illustrated in Wishnietsky's Confederate Patriotic Covers and Their Usages on p. 60
