Circular datestamp with "10" rate handstamp on small folded letter to Antico P.O., Lavaca County, Texas, docketing at left reads in part "a private in Capt. J.S. Power Co. Col. J.S. Ford's Command", some interesting contents including "you must excuse my bad writing for I have to write on an ammunition box sit on the ground", minor wear, Very Fine, John Salmon "Rip" Ford had a long and distinguished career and actually fought the last battle of the Civil War, more than a month after Lee's surrender
