Sale 1291, Lot 58, Florida Postal History: Territorial Period (A-Q)"Lipona Florida August 19" (1832). Manuscript postmark with matching "Free" on 1832 folded letter datelined "Wascissia Augt. 16th 32" from James Gadsden to Saml. Gouverneur, the postmaster in New York City, contents includes one page to Gouverneur and also a copy of contents sent by Gadsden to President Jackson (Gouverneur's father-in-law), minor splitting along folds, Very Fine, perhaps two examples of this manuscript postmark are recorded, Lipona's post office was established in 1828 on the 10,000-acre plantation of Prince Achile Murat, a nephew of Napoleon and exiled son of the King of Naples, ASCC value $1,000.00
