Sale 1291, Lot 55, Florida Postal History: Territorial Period (A-Q)"Jacksonville July 8" (1827). Manuscript postmark with matching "Way 40" rate on 1827 folded letter to Tallahassee, Very Fine and very rare, this is the earliest recorded territorial postmark from Jacksonville (the post office was established in 1824), this is also reported to be the only known Florida territorial use of a way letter, ex Meroni, ASCC value with no premium for the Way marking $500.00
