Sale 1291, Lot 240, 1869 Pictorial Issue12c Green (117). Tied by red Dot in Circle foreign mail cancel with matching "Baltimore Md. Sep. 10" (1869) circular datestamp on orange-buff cover to Oxford, England, red "New York Sep. 11" transit datestamp, docketing on back, barely reduced at top, Very Fine and extremely rare use of this cancel on the 12c Adriatic, the Baltimore post office used this distinctive red cancel on foreign-bound mail for only approximately three weeks, with only eight covers recorded, postmarked between August 18 and September 10, 1869 (this is the latest recorded use), ex Drucker and Dr. Skinner, P.F. certificate no. 59291 no longer accompanies
