Sale 1291, Lot 203, 1857-60 Issue5c Brown (29). Vertical pair, used with vertical strip of three of 10c Green, Ty. V (35), tied by "New Orleans La. Aug. 18, 1859" double-circle datestamps on small narrow cover to sailor aboard the U.S. Frigate Congress, care of American consul Brazil Squadron, Rio de Janeiro, manuscript "via Southampton", red "New York Am. Pkt. Aug. 27" exchange circular datestamp on back (partial removal of flap affects marking), magenta "24" and "40" credits, stamps with a couple very minor faults from placement near edge of this diminutive cover, still Very Fine and attractive use to Brazil, the rate via England was 45c, this was apparently accepted as fully prepaid, with 2022 P.F. certificate
