Clear strike of circular datestamp with matching "PAID" handstamp on 1845 folded letter to New York, manuscript "25" rate, minor edgewear, Very Fine, this statehood-period use of a territorial marking from St. Joseph is remarkable, according to Wikipedia, St. Joseph was briefly the largest community in Florida until a yellow fever epidemic in 1841, in 1844 most remnants of the town were destroyed in a storm surge, this 1845 use is likely unique
