The Type 7 surcharge was a handstamp applied at Daytona, Florida, on envelopes that had been sent to Jacksonville for revaluing and were either poorly done or skipped. Some examples show clear partial Type 4 overprints (see Sale 1217, lot 1355 for a cut square) and some show a trace or none at all, like the full corner offered here. It is reported that only 29 were surcharged.
