Tied by red grid with matching "Paid" in arc handstamp and "New York 15 Dec. 5cts" (1846) integral-rate circular datestamp on blue folded letter to Frederick Huth & Co., London, England, manuscript "pr Boston Steamer" and carried on the Cunarder Caledonia, departing Boston Dec. 16 and arriving Liverpool Dec. 30, blurry transit datestamp on front and London receiving backstamp (Dec. 31), answer docketing on back, file folds including one which creases the stamp, also small tears at left of stamp, Very Fine appearing use to London, the addressees on this cover are the same as on the Jul. 15, 1845 earliest known use (Sale 999, lot 584), with 2023 P.F. certificate
