2c Carmine, Hudson-Fulton (372). Tied by large violet "Centennial Parade R.P.O., St. Louis, Mo. 1809 Oct 7 1909" oval machine cancel on corner card envelope to Belleville Ill., slightly reduced at right barely into the address, Very Fine and rare use of this cancel on an envelope rather than a postcard, in use for only one day, this is the first U.S. postal marking celebrating a parade, despite the R.P.O. designation the vehicle was actually a horse drawn float representing a streetcar, accompanied by a second use on a picture postcard, franked with 2c Carmine, Lincoln (367), Very Fine
