VERY FINE. A LIKELY UNIQUE BLOCK WITH PLATE NUMBER OF THE RARE 3-CENT 1917 VERTICAL PAIR, IMPERFORATE HORIZONTALLY.

We have encountered only one other multiple larger than a pair of Scott 501c since keeping computerized records 30 years ago and in our Rarities sales since 1964. That multiple was a block of four from an internal position on the sheet. This block with plate number has not been offered at auction for more than 50 years. Only 25 pairs are reported in Datz.
