$2.00 Brown Red, Columbian (242). Original gum, lightly hinged, rich color and detailed impression, superior centering with Jumbo marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A GORGEOUS ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE $2.00 COLUMBIAN ISSUE, GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 JUMBO BY BOTH P.S.E. AND THE P.F.
The $2.00 Columbian Issue is notorious for being one of the most difficult denominations to obtain with choice centering or with wide margins.
With 1997, 2012 P.F. and 2012 P.S.E. certificates (latter two OGph, XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $5,500.00). Only three grade higher (two at 98, one at 100). For Mint N.H., only one grades higher than a 95. The example offered here, with Jumbo margins and grades from two expertizers, is truly remarkable.
