10c Black (2). Margins in with truncated corners (the sender's whim), tied by blue grid cancel, matching "Philada. Pa. 10cts. Jul. 12" (1847) circular datestamp with "2" inverted (the "1" is upright) on folded letter to Mercer Pa., vertical file fold, some cover toning, still Fine, a rare early use, only one example of either the 5c or 10c 1847 Issue is known used outside of New York prior to the date of this cover (an uncancelled No. 1 from New Hamburgh), this is the earliest reported use of the 10c 1847 outside of New York City, also the earliest reported use of this style of government-issued 7-bar grid cancel, with 1989 P.F. certificate
