Three large margins, ample at bottom except corner partly removed at bottom right prior to use, cleaned-plate impression and bright shade (close to Brown Orange), tied by red grid cancels, matching "U.S. Express Mail N. York May 1?" (1851) route agent's circular datestamp on auction catalog for teas conducted by Wilmerdings & Mount on May 15, 1851, 7-1/2 x 10 in. with green cover, printed by George F. Nesbitt & Co., to Newport R.I., some creases and faults, otherwise Fine, a very unusual printed matter usage, this weighs a bit over 1-1/2 ounces and must have been sent at the printed matter rate, which required 3-1/2c postage in this weight class, this is the only cover that can be definitively stated to have a 5c 1847 stamp paying the printed matter rate, ex Cipolla
