[Slave-Related] Nancy is Not for Sale. Blue folded letter with 5c Blue, London (6) tied by "Houston Tex. Jun. 26, 1863" circular datestamp and addressed to Wm. P. Ballinger in Houston, datelined "Houston Texas June 26, 1863", fantastic contents regarding slave Nancy includes "In regard to the sale of Nancy, I am sorry that I cannot yet bring myself to accede to your wishes & those of Mrs. B...the terms proposed are in every respect satisfactory and my declining to sell is without reference to them. She and her sisters and brothers are family negroes and grandchildren of my father's driver...after his death to pay his debts, I deemed myself fortunate to be able to retain the family...I am aware that Nancy is greatly attached to Mrs. B...", Very Fine, a fascinating letter, accompanied by a few collateral items including cover with 10c Blue, Die A (11) tied by Houston circular datestamp on cameo corner card cover for Ballinger & Jack, Attorneys at Law in Galveston, Confederate cameo covers are rare (especially used from Texas), another similar cameo corner card cover used with two 3c Bank Note stamps, last is pair of C.S.A. No. 7 tied by Galveston circular datestamp to Ballinger as "C.S. Receiver" in Houston, Very Fine, an interesting group of items, described in an article in Civil War Philatelist, First Quarter 2021, pp. 38-43
