Sale 1262, Lot 274, Air Post, Parcel Post1913, Jan. 13-Mar. 10, Boston-New York First Aerial Parcel Post Service (AAMC 67). Vertical pair 1c Panama-Pacific Perf 12 on legal-size cover tied by "New Haven Feb. 28 1913 2-30P" flag machine cancel, three-line manuscript endorsement at left "By Via First Aeroplane Parcel Post Harry M. Jones Aviator", New York Mar. 10, 1913 backstamp, cover is addressed to England but evidently got no further than New York, few cover faults, otherwise Fine, rare, with only eight letters carried on the flight, these eight letters were picked up in New Haven 47 days after aviator Jones left Boston (mechanical and weather related delays along the route), Jones left New Haven on March 4 and got as far as Mamaroneck N.Y. where he crashed and his plane was destroyed, Jones received minor injuries and proceeded the next day to carry the eight letters and other mail to New York by train and subway, arriving on March 10 in New York City
