2c Dark Red Brown, Ribbed Paper (157 var). Three, one with straight edge, intense shade and prominent ribbing, tied by cork cancels with duplex "New York Dec. 16 4P.M." datestamp on "Sunday Times and Noah's Weekly Messenger" corner card cover addressed to Frederick W. Howard in Charlotte Harbor, Florida, sender's "overland via Okahumkee Fla." route directive, red pencil "St. Antonia" ship-name directive, receipt docketing on back "Recd. 19 Jan. per Antoine via Punta Rassa", some tropical toning on cover and stamps, still Fine, a very rare domestic cover, the Howards settled in Punta Gorda in the 1870s, mail service to Charlotte Harbor and Punta Gorda was very erratic during this period, this was directed to go overland via Okahumka (north of Charlotte Harbor and at the center of Florida), the docketing indicates it was carried by the Steamer Antoine from Punta Rassa (south of Charlotte Harbor), a remarkable example of mail to a region that was still quite remote in the 1870s, ex "Andromeda"
