Howard in Charlotte Harbor, Florida, sender's "overland via Okahumkee Fla." route directive, red pencil "St. Antonia" ship-name directive, receipt docketing on back "Recd. 19 Jan. per Antoine via Punta Rassa", some tropical toning on cover and stamps, still Fine, a very rare domestic cover, the Howards settled in Punta Gorda in the 1870s, mail service to Charlotte Harbor and Punta Gorda was very erratic during this period, this was directed to go overland via Okahumka (north of Charlotte Harbor and at the center of Florida), the docketing indicates it was carried by the Steamer Antoine from Punta Rassa (south of Charlotte Harbor), a remarkable example of mail to a region that was still quite remote in the 1870s, ex "Andromeda"
