Well-centered, tied by "First Aerial Mail Great Britain to Australia 26 Feb 1920" oval flight datestamp with additional strike on reverse on "Baghdad, Mesopot" picture postcard, addressed to Sydney, posted in Mesopotamia while the flight was enroute to Australia with dateline "Baghdad, 10 January 1919", endorsed "By the Super Hanley Aeroplane from Baghdad" and signed by crewmember "J.M. Bennett, Darwin, 12.12.19", bottom corners of card repairedVERY FINE APPEARANCE. A REMARKABLE USE OF THE 1919 ROSS-SMITH VIGNETTE ON FLOWN FLIGHT COVER ORIGINATING FROM BAGHDAD, MESOPOTAMIA, WHILE ENROUTE TO ITS FINAL DESINTATION IN AUSTRALIA. VERY FEW EXAMPLES ARE KNOWN FROM BAGHDAD--THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST EYE-APPEALING WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED FROM THIS SCARCE FLIGHT.
