$1.00 Red Brown, 1946 Hunting Permit, Large Die Proof on Wove (RW13P1). 90 x 78mm wove paper die sunk on 202 x 151mm card, deep rich color and beautiful impression, small "C" punch hole in right of design has been affixed back into place, back with magenta handstamped "Engraver's Stock Proof Authorized by." with initials, also with blue number 891801A.EXTREMELY FINE AND RARE LARGE DIE PROOF OF THE 1946 FEDERAL HUNTING PERMIT ISSUE, SCOTT RW13.
Federal Hunting Permit proofs are extremely rare in any form and for any issue. This and the cut-down example in the following lot are the only large die proofs we have offered for RW13. In fact, outside of this sale we have offered only two other large die proofs for any issue since at least 1993.
