12c Green, Re-Issue (128). Almost perfect centering with wide and balanced margins, deep rich color, bold cork cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL RE-ISSUE. AN EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT STAMP TO FIND IN SOUND CONDITION WITH SUCH EXCEPTIONAL MARGINS AND CENTERING -- EASILY ONE OF THE FINEST IN EXISTENCE.
The 12c is the second rarest value of the 1869 Re-issue set in used condition, behind only the 3c. The Rose book estimates 15-25 extant used copies and SMQ estimates 20 extant. We believe there are a bit more than that but copies with wide and balanced margins and no faults are extremely rare.
With 1999 P.F. certificate.
