5c Brown (1). Large to huge margins all around including portions of adjoining stamps at top and bottom, deep rich color and detailed early impression, bold blue grid cancelsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING USED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH RICH COLOR AND A RAZOR-SHARP EARLY IMPRESSION.
Based on the color, impression and blue grid cancel, we classify this as an Early Impression Dark Brown from the First Printing, and it was probably used from Philadelphia.
With 1999 P.S.E. certificate as Dark Brown (1a) and 2002 and 2007 P.F. certificates as Brown (XF-Superb 95).
