(30)” 1861 double-circle datestamp, sharp dark impression on brightly colored paper with clearly defined laid linesEXTREMELY FINE GEM. ONLY EIGHT EXAMPLES OF THE MACON 5-CENT FLORAL BORDERED PROVISIONAL ON YELLOW LAID PAPER (SCOTT 53X6) ARE RECORDED. THIS SUPERB CORNER-MARGIN STAMP IS ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES.
This stamp was removed from its cover (addressed to Howell Cobb) and identified as the rare Laid Paper variety, Scott 53X6. The original cover accompanies.
