3c Dull Red, Ty. III, "Specimen" Ovpt. Ty. A (26S-A). With period and reading horizontally at bottom, unused (no gum), small stain at upper left corner, tiny thin, still appears Fine and very rare, there are two different types of handstamped "Specimen" overprints known on the 3c 1857 Issue (Types A and F), plus a manuscript type (Type I), all are rare and the Type A offered here is one of only a few known -- we have offered one other in the last 30 years -- ex Lewenthal and Piller
