Large margins to just touched, horizontal crease at extreme edge of stamp at top, tied by partly clear strike of San Francisco circular datestamp on April 15, 1853 datelined blue folded letter to Boston Mass., "pr. Northerner" ship-name directive and carried on that steamer on April 17, arriving Panama May 3, after crossing the Isthmus to Aspinwall carried on the Crescent City, arriving New York May 24, Very Fine and scarce double 6c rate use before the April 1855 rate change
