1c Blue, Types II-IIIa (7-8A). Horizontal pair from Plate 1E, right stamp has small break in top outer line qualifying it as Type IIIa, mostly large to huge margins including left sheet margin, bright early shade, tied by bold "Quincy Ill. 1 Nov." circular datestamp on the Nov. 1, 1852 issue of the "QUINCY WHIG" newspaper, addressed to West Portland, Maine, right stamp with small creasing and tear from placement near edge of paper, newspaper folded for display, Very Fine appearance and a very rare showpiece, the 2c newspaper rate was changed to 1c beginning October 1, 1852, this use was therefore overpaid by 1c, the use of this issue on wrappers is unusual, but this example of the stamps actually tied on the newspaper is truly remarkable and considered by some to be unique, ex Grunin and Giamporcaro ("Tito")
