3c Dull Red, Type I (11). Tied by large "Paid" grid cancel with red "Boston Mass. 24 Jun." (1857) circular datestamp on folded letter from Beirut Lebanon to Tolland Conn., clear strike of "BEIRUT/May 25 1857" two-line datestamp applied at origin and attributed to the U.S. Consul in Beirut, carried privately to U.S. and forwarded by J. M. Gordon, Foreign Missions, with his red oval handstamp on back, Very Fine and unusual, the "Beirut" handstamp is rare with only four or five known, ex Piller and Giamporcaro ("Tito"), with 1990 Holcombe certificate
