Horizontal strip of six and single, mostly full margins to touched in a few places, left stamp with some creasing and tear from placement near edge but overall remarkably sound for such a franking, tied by four strikes of "Chicago Ill. Sep. 8" (1855) circular datestamp with red "New York Am Packet. Sep. 19" circular datestamp on cover to Sardinia, carried on Collins Line Atlantic, departing New York Sep. 19, 1855, and arriving Liverpool Sep. 30, Calais transit datestamp, Italian transit and arrival backstamps, Very Fine and striking, a rare use of a strip of six and single of the 3c 1851 Issue to pay the 21c rate by American Packet to Italy, with 2002 P.F. certificate
