3c Brownish Carmine, Type II (11A). Horizontal pair, large margins to ample at bottom, brilliant color complemented by two tying strikes of "Mobile Ala. Jan. 27" (1857) circular datestamp on blue printed cotton market circular to Augsburg, Germany, bold strike of "GB/2PK" diamond-boxed accountancy handstamp (2 francs per kilo due), French transit datestamp, backstamped with second strike of G.B. handstamp and Augsburg receiving datestamp, fresh and Very Fine, franked for the circular rate by Prussian Closed Mail but sent via British Open Mail, reported to be the only cover with 1851 stamps attempting to pay this rate
