Single and pair, ample margins to slightly in, used with 1c Blue, Type IV (9), Position 60L1L, recut twice at top, once at bottom (only four such recuts on plate), affixed together as a "block" and tied by double "bounced" strike of "San Francisco Cal. 5 Nov." circular datestamp on buff cover to Boston ("U.S.A." indicating origin outside the country), lightly inked but mostly clear strike of red "C. H. Leland & Co. Post Office Arcade, San Francisco" ornately framed handstamp, cleaned and edges slightly improved, Fine appearance, Leland was a mail-bag operator in San Francisco--this Leland marking is extremely rare--ex Vogel
