Sale 1242, Lot 201, Three-Cent: Covers and Fancy Cancels3c Orange Brown, Types I, II (10, 10A). Three singles, each plated and from three different plates (1i, 5E and 1E respectively), different shades and margins to just touched on one spot, unusual twice-forwarded use originating in Halifax N.C. on Oct. 23, 1851, with pen-cancelled single, sent to Baltimore and re-addressed to Norfolk Va. with second 3c (grid cancel), then mailed a third time with another 3c, this time tied by Norfolk circular datestamp and addressed to Edenton N.C., Very Fine, a very rare twice-forwarded use with three rates paid by stamps, this remarkable cover was the subject of an article in Chronicle 238
